Against mosquitoes, sand flies and tiny insects

If you get bitten at night even with an insect screen fitted, the culprit may be tiny insects such as sand flies that pass through an ordinary mesh. The fine-pored structure of a window filter keeps these insects out too.

Why do I get bitten even with an insect screen?

Standard insect meshes are woven tightly enough to stop mosquitoes. But some blood-sucking flies, such as sand flies, are much smaller than mosquitoes and can pass through the holes in the mesh. Especially in warm areas, near wetlands and gardens, these tiny insects can be a serious nuisance on summer nights.

How does a window filter protect you?

A window filter is not a mesh but a layered membrane. Because its pores are small enough to hold back dust, sand flies, small caterpillars, ants and small flying insects cannot get through either.

  • Flies and mosquitoesIt stops everything a standard insect screen stops.
  • Sand flies and small fliesIt also keeps out tiny insects that can pass through ordinary mesh.
  • Pollen and dustAlong with insects, it holds back particles in the air.

Insects usually get in at the edges

However fine the filter, a small gap at the edges is enough for insects. So press the corners down carefully when fitting it, and on the hook-and-loop model make sure the tape runs unbroken along the frame. Installation guide
