Pet mesh or window filter?
Pet mesh is an insect screen mesh woven from thick threads that resists scratching. It is a good choice for a window where your cat keeps tearing the mesh. But it is no better than standard mesh at holding back dust and pollen.
The window filter’s outer layer is also more durable than standard mesh and copes well with a pet’s everyday contact. And it holds back dust and pollen. Which you choose depends on your cat’s habits.
| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| The cat sits by the window and touches it now and then | Window filter |
| The cat constantly scratches or climbs the mesh | Pet mesh on that window, a filter on the others |
| There is a family member with allergies at home | Window filter, limiting the cat’s access |
Tips against scratching
- Put a seat by the window. When cats find a high, comfortable spot, they sit there instead of climbing the mesh.
- Protect the bottom of the filter. You can add a thin protective strip or a clear panel to the lower part, where the cat touches most.
- Provide a scratching post. Redirect the need to scratch somewhere else.
