Suitable frames
- Fixed (removable) insect screens: The easiest to do.
- Hinged insect screen doors and windows: The most practical solution for a balcony door.
- Sliding insect screens: Make sure it moves freely in the track.
- Pleated and roller insect screens: Ask us first because of the folding or rolling mechanism.
What you need
- Window filter by the roll
- Insect screen spline (the old one can often be reused)
- Spline roller or a flat-head screwdriver
- Utility knife and scissors
Step by step

Take the frame down and remove the old mesh
Lay the screen on a flat surface. Find the end of the spline, pull it out of the channel and remove the old mesh.

Measure and cut the filter
Cut the filter large enough to overlap the frame a little on every side. Decide which way the dark side will face out.

Press it into the channel with spline
Starting from one corner, press the filter into the channel with the spline. Stretch the filter slightly on the opposite side and leave no creases.

Trim the excess and refit the screen
Trim the overhang along the channel with a utility knife, put the screen back and check the edges.
Made to measure: hook-and-loop or roll
