Why doesn’t an ordinary insect screen stop dust?
The gaps between the threads of insect mesh are narrow enough to stop a mosquito. But dust grains are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than a mosquito. Wind-blown road dust, construction dust and soot pass through these gaps easily. That is why even a window with an insect screen has a dark windowsill within a few days.
How does a dustproof insect screen work?
The Odera window filter is not a woven mesh but a three-layer membrane. The nanofiber web in the middle contains a great many tiny pores that air can pass through. As air passes through these pores, most of the dust gets caught in the fibre web.

- 1Outer mesh
The breathable outer layer. It withstands sun and weather, protects the membrane and keeps its shape after cutting.
- 2Nanofiber membrane
A web of fibres much finer than a human hair. It holds back smoke, dust, allergens and spores while letting air through.
- 3Inner mesh
The breathable inner layer that carries the filter and gives it strength. It stands up to washing and daily use.
Everything you expect from an insect screen
- Stops flies and mosquitoes. And smaller insects such as sand flies.
- Fits like an insect screen. To the frame with hook-and-loop tape, or into an insect screen frame with spline.
- Lets air through. With the window open, the room keeps airing.
- Can be cleaned. Take it off and rinse it with water.
Made to measure: hook-and-loop or roll
