Short answer
A closed room is not the best environment for a child: humidity, carbon dioxide and indoor pollutants build up. For children with allergies, the aim is to let clean air in while keeping allergens out.
Tips for airing
- Air briefly and often. Several times a day, air the room briefly with a cross-draught.
- Choose your time. In pollen season, after rain or in the evening is better.
- Fit a filter to the window. Window filter for homes with babies – as we explain on that page, the hook-and-loop filter fits in a child’s room without drilling.
- Keep the room simple. Soft toys, rugs and heavy curtains hold dust.
Made to measure: hook-and-loop or roll
