Short answer
On hot summer nights, sleeping with the window open gives a more natural coolness than air conditioning. The obstacles are mosquitoes, dust and pollen.
For a comfortable night
- Fit a filter to the window. Stops mosquitoes and tiny insects such as sand flies, and reduces dust and pollen.
- Switch off the light. With the window open, light indoors attracts insects.
- Cross-draught. Leaving the door ajar adds to the coolness.
- Keep the bed out of the draught.
